I have been looking at Photoshop noise reduction plugins. I am not sure if they would help with Olympus raw files.

Whch type of noise is Olympus most prone to: luminance noise or chroma noise?

Most plugins seem to target luminance better than chroma.

Thankfully, there isn't such an issue with harder-to-correct chroma noise in Olympus files. Luminance noise grain is easier to fix. Some choose to leave a certain amount in as it can add some structure to certain types of images, much in the same way that grain in film can.

Thanks Ian,

Is purple-fringing a type of Chroma or Luminance noise? I hardly ever see this so if this is Chroma noise that would make buying a noise reduction plugin useful.
