Hi, all Im dave I am from Farnborough in hampshire. I photograph all typs of styles but my main enjoyment comes from music photography and music promotion.

I have photographed the following bands Madness, Morcheeba, Mungo Jerry & 2007 X factor contestants

I currently have an olympus E-500 with a number of lenses, and I have just paid in full for my Olympus E-3 and a sigma f1.4 30mm lens

I have had a number of photos published in local and nation papers/magazines

I have a full time job and my photography is a hobby and i spend all my spare time with my camera in my hand

Hey Dave

Some nice shots there sir. I took a look at 'Abi' and I like the pose, but it looks as though it could do with a bit of sharpening as its a tad soft. Did you apply USM in Photoshop or similar when you resized the image for www display?

No there was no editing just the raw photo from camera to screen, though I do have Photoshop I dont really use it,

what does USM mean

Im ready to learn if you can tell me what I need to do to the photo

No probs Dave, happy to help where I can.

USM = UnSharpMask and is a sharpening filter used within Photoshop. It is a strange name I appreciate, but applying a small amount of USM to images that have been resized for display on the web usually makes a fabulous improvement to the resulting image.

Would you like me to illustrate this by using the image of Abi to show you...?
