Live View is when you use the rear screen as a viewfinder like a P&S camera.

You switch it on by pressing the little button below the Playback button to the right of the viewfinder.
Manual page 35.

In Live View the mirror is raised and you see the image from the sensor. In this mode the camera uses Contrast Detect Autofocus like the Pen/OMD cameras. It can be very useful if you want to take pictures at very low levels (worms eye view) or high levels (over the heads of the people in front of you ) using the tilting capability of the rear screen.

As Peter say nice an easy to switch on, you should hear a clunk noise and then see the image. With the E620 good way to use the articulated screen. Main downside is that eats into battery life something rotten.

Button looks like a square with a vertical line to the left and right, just under the playback button

Hi everyone!

This is a personal observation, but on my e-30 using liveView in dark conditions (eg using a long exposure) sometimes increases noise in the image you take after, even if the picture taken is at base iso. I think it is to do with the sensor running at a high iso to give the liveView image, which in turn "heats up" the sensor leading to more noise after. And as Colin says it does eat into your battery!

Cheers,

Ralph.
