If one has the E-M1 and is looking for a back up camera for it, does the E-M10 provide an adequate and comparable to use substitute camera.

Thanks for any input.

I don't have the E-M10, but I have handled it and looked at it, and can safely say it would provide an ideal back-up camera for the E-M1. You save on weight and size, and slightly lose out on ergonomics. Image quality, I would say they're indistinguishable in the real world. Possibly the E-M10 is better for (lack of) noise.

I ummed and ahhed over both cameras in May and went for the E M 10.
The image quality is very good and, after customising the controls, I can change anything I need to change with the camera to my eye. The little extras that the E M1 offers above the M10 level of control was, for me not worth an extra £700.

The only downside would be the two different batteries (BLS-5 instead of BLN-1).
