Now I have a 12-40 F2.8 Zuiko does anyone think it's worth hanging onto my 12-50?

Is it worth keeping as an all-rounder maybe for its' macro capability perhaps?

I haven't shot much yet even with the 12-50 and it looks like it does a decent job to me. Just wondering if it's now superfluous?

Cheers.

Well, it's lighter. And still weather resistant. And as you say it has macro capabilities. And you won't get too much for it. And if you bought the camera with the lens as a kit it may sell better like that in the future.

But I sold mine.

But I sold mine.

Me too, it's long gone but now in my daughters capable hands.
I would say hanging onto the 12-50 depends to a degree on the other lenses you have.

I will hopefully be getting the 12-40 within the next month or so. Not sure what to do with the 12-50 but I may well keep it as it is good for video.

And on the E-M1 (with firmware 1.4) its zoom can be controlled by WiFi now too, whereas that won't be possible with the 12-40 lens.

I sold my 12-50 to make a (small) contribution to the cost of the 12-40 and haven't regretted doing so.

As mentioned you won't get much for it, worth keeping I say it's great for video use, lightweight and weather resistant and the macro quality is excellent. *chr

It will be useful when you buy an additional EM1 - ---

Thanks folks. I guess the test will be seeing how long it stays in a bag unused...
