If it is a wet day.... sort of drizzly .... how safe is it to use an external flash?

Drizzly should be OK. I thought the FL-50R was sealed but have since been told that it isn't.

Thanks Ian
While I can protect the flash in a bag, it is the hot shoe I am worried about

My Metz 44 is still fine after an hour in the rain :)

Best to keep the Hotshoe as dry as poss, and clean thoroughly after the wet.

All my camera Hotshoes have been wet at some time, no ongoing probs if dried and cleaned.

If you are not using it, A waterproof plaster keeps thing dry. Not pretty, but effective :)

or : You could buy a new cover and fix a rubber tyre patch to that so you have an overhanging, permanent replacement in your bag :)
