View Full Version : Help - E510 settings

Hope this is not a silly question but I wondered if anyone could tell me how to change settings that stay as the default setting. I specifically mean turning the noise filter to "off" and sharpness to "-2" as a lot of reviews recommend? Otherwise I keep forgetting to change it everytime I turn on or change program.

You will need to make these adjustments via the various menus, for guidence and a whole heap of information on set ups walk throughs etc visit the resource below,

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply.
So it does mean they can't be saved as a permanent default though? If so I must just get used to setting them each time I use the camera.
I do love the camera and just know there is so much to try out - the picture quality seems very good. I've bought photoshop Elements today - so even more to get to grips with.
Also thanks to Ian for this site - I look everyday and am amazed by the range of topics and advice here.

Yep, you can set up the E-510 camera as you want and unless you change the settings to another value they will remain as you set them. You can even define a 'my reset' that when the E-510 is reset, the values you chose are reinstated rather than the factory defaults.

Thanks John
How do I set those settings, I keep looking in the manual but can't find out so if you tell me or let me know where the instructions can be found.

Hey Mark

If you read the section on page 65 of the manual... "Customising the settings / functions of your camera" this will help.

The instructions for setting up 'My Mode' are on page 69, and the settings that can be saved for the 'My Mode' are listed in the table on page 66.

So, essentially you have two additional 'reset' settings. Normally when the camera turns off then on again, the settings that you last used are maintained and kept, however, when you reset the camera, usually the factory settings are restored - which isn't what you want.

What you need to do is set up the settings you want as per the table on page 66, then follow the instructions on page 65 to register your preferences for reset - then, when you reset you camera your own settings are restored... voila!!

I will get onto it straight away.

My E510 loses settings such as WB and ISO when I switch it off. Both revert to Auto. The custom reset setting feature in the menu is greyed out. Is something wrong or am I just not doing things properly?

From memory, I think I had that problem with my E500 and took a while to find the answer. It may be because you're using Program or Scene modes. They stay as set in A, S and M.

Thank you. I was in Auto but changing to P preserves the settings.
