The E M 1 may be having a difficult birth but it has Olympus DNA So now it needs a little nurturing by its users and the occasional firmware update
That said I came across this
http://forum.fourthirdsphoto.com/discussion/75614-e-m1-finding-4-3-lens-limits.html
Now I have found this behavior with the 12-40 in low Contrast conditions .'..
I am sure a firmware update will sort this
Hopefully the Camera will be allowed to mature before the next upgrade

not sure what you are saying Chris?

as the light drops the difference between the native lens performance and the 43+adapter increases - can't see that changing a whole lot going forwards.

my experiences with the 50-200 and 50-200+EC14 and E-M1 mirror Don's (as do the 7-14/12-60/35-100) I don't expect that to change primarily because of the underlying hardware.

not having experienced any issues with m43 glass and S-AF I hope that doesn't change either!

With low contrast I have had the 12-40 hunt focus and then fire on focus confirm with the image OOF
It appears to move to close focus When It fails to get focus before firing off
Its probably a minor software glitch
