Hi,
I have a problem with my new E-M1.
With the PL 25/1.4, 45/1.8, 75/1.8 The camera sets itself to MF and cannot be reset to any AF mode and both the EVF and LCD are black.
With the 12/2 and 17/1.8 all works fine.
All lenses work fine on my E-M5, and a 'full reset' makes no difference.
Any ideas????
The camera comes from a Taiwan eBay dealer, so I can't just take it back too the shop... :(

It could be that the lock pin is not engaging properly. Try wiggling the lens on e it's mounted and check that the lock pin has engaged.

I see the pin. if you press it without a lens the sensor goes live.
It is engaged and wiggling the lenses makes no difference.

Hmmm - strange that the two lenses that work are the ones with the manual focus clutch. Only other thing I can suggest is cleaning the connection pins, but I think it's a long shot...

What do the 12 and 17 lenses do when they're in MF mode (focus ring pulled back)?

Hmm, now they aren't working either.... :(

Is the behaviour of the EVF/LCD the same with the locking pin pulled back with no lens as when a lens is mounted? If so, it's still possible that the problem lies there. Maybe the pin doesn't need to be back much for the camera to think it's unlocked? Might be worth wiggling the unlock button when a lens is mounted?

Just an idea... Sorry that you're having problems. I'm sure it's very frustrating. If the worst comes to the worst, I'm pretty sure that Oly has worldwide warranty.

Thanks for the help. Yes, the behaviour is as if no lens is mounted.

Hi delaneyb,

I have exactly the same problem. Did you received any solution from Olympus?

Thanks!

Ok, I'm not accustomed to this kind of lens...
For those in the same case, just pull the focus ring! :)

My problem wasn't the focus ring.
Olympus offered to take the camera for repair, but since that are now freely available in the UK, I chose to return it to the dealer in Taiwan for a refund.
The new one from LCE works perfectly.

Alas, the dangers of buying a grey import or even possibly a "cloned" model.

Hope you get your refund ok..

I had to pay the return postage, but got a full refund last week.
