Hi I'm new here, and I have just received my E-M1 12-40 kit from Olympus.

The first thing I notice is that there is quite a loud clunk when I switch it off. Is this normal?

Thanks

Welcome aboard,

Hope it's normal. Mine sounds like a squelch followed by a thunk.

I *think* it might be down to the lens resetting itself (some option somewhere) but I'm presuming it also locks down any moving parts.

Cheers, Paul.

Yep. Lens returning to it's home position. Default is infinite focus but you can change it I believe.

Thanks guys; I thought I'd bought Tom Paxton's marvellous new toy for a minute! (You have to have been alive in the 1960's folk music era to get that).

Give it a few hours with the manual and I guess you'll think you probably have! :)

Mine clunks too. It also rattles when switched off, a little louder than the E-M5 and with knocking inside that can be felt, as though an element is loose.

I have been advised (thanks Dave Collins) that it is the IS system when the camera is not powered up.
