I must admit although the score is good I was hoping for it to be much better than the Panasonic 12-35mm.

I'm left unimpressed by many of these "Comparative" tests in much the same way as when my car was given a lower "score" because its top speed was only 133 MPH compared to the 135 MPH of the "favored" vehicle.

At least DxO have a systematic approach that has a lot of objective assessment rather than many of subjective opinions that get trotted out in some of these reviews.

12-40mm offers similar image quality as 12-35mm, but it's 5mm longer.
So overall 12-40mm wins. It is more versatile.

Depends on one's version of versatility - like, how many 58mm or 62mm other lenses one owns...

So we're talking trivial differences. It might be interesting to see a comparison with the Oly at 35mm fl. From what i read elsewhere the 12-35 is good at 2.8, where as the 12-40 gets even sharper stopped down, also the 12-35 gets softer in the corners and the 12-40 has more consistent sharpness, quite useful at 12mm. Also the close focusing distance is closer than i expected with the 12-40. However you call it, it's great to have a choice of 2 world class zooms.
