It is almost here - see the 'usual' site for this sort of thing :D

Sounds promising but probably expensive! :)

The OMD em1 and 12-40 f2.8 look absolutely stunning in the images posted on the net earlier. Can't wait to see them in the flesh (metal) *yes

It does indeed look stunning. I'd like to weld one of those onto my E-M5. :)

One of the attractions of the E-M1 is being able to use the fine existing 4/3 standard zooms yet at the same time they are due to release a nice m.4/3 option. Cool. :)

That looks much better than the earlier leaked images and video.

I presume they didn't do a 12-60 and stopped at 40mm to keep the weight down. For me I think I'll stick with my existing 4/3s lenses unless the kit price makes the lens a real bargain.

It's a M4/3's Pro lens that can be categorised similarly to the ZD14-35 F/2 lens (but physically smaller & lighter) & I confess that I wish I could get this kit. :o

Anyone who remembers all the cheap, crappy equipment labeled PRO in the film era will walk carefully around this lens. :D

The timing seems just a bit hypocritical, or even self-foot-shooting,
just when the 14-54 & 12-60 are on the cusp of being able to be used quickly on a m4/3rds body they release a lens which potentially isn't as good as either, and certainly isn't as good at more than 40mm :)
I say potentially because nothing is known of optical performance.
I do know the existing Lumix 12-35 isn't great for chromatic aberration on Olympus bodies,
and I'm assuming this new thing is going to be as sharp as the 12-60
but with an under 200 used price on 14-54MkI the new lens had better be brighter at the long (not so long) end, sharper at the edges and focusing faster despite the E-M1's PDAF tricks.

I think the 12-35 is a better lens than the 14-54, I think the 12-35 is on par with the 12-60 iq wise.

It looks good in the picture. Will it focus as close as the 12-50 in macro mode, can I live with the loss of 10mm focal length off the long end (like many was hoping for the 12-60 in MFT), will there be a 40-150mm to go with it? I would like it but do I need it, and I would want answers to these questions before pushing the button. Luckily I'm in no hurry.
