There is a new XZ compact from Olympus - it's called the XZ-10 and is smaller and lighter (smaller sensor and new 26-130 equiv i.zuiko lens).

You can see my hands-on preview here:

The press release is here:

And there is also news of a white version of the XZ-2 if you are interested!

Hope this answers your question

Coupled with a slightly smaller 1/2.3rd inch CMOS 12 megapixel back-lit sensor

The XZ-1 and XZ-2 have the same sensor size (1/1.7 inch); 43.3 square mm. The XZ-10 sensor (1/2.3 inch) is 28.5 square mm, so the larger models have sensors roughly 50% greater in area.

Hi Ian,
Any ideas on price, I was looking at a XZ-1 as an always with me camera but I know I'd start carrying a flash etc, no such temptation with this one, great spec for the size.

With the launch of the XZ-2 I got a very good deal on a white XZ-1 :)

It has become my "always with me" camera as it works in so many conditions that the more simple compact struggled with.

Given that you can add the EVF and use RC flash systems, it's a real winner.

The guide price is £349.

Hmmmm, makes the XZ-1 look cheap, think that will be the way to go.

The XZ-1 is cheap because it is over 2 years old and has a lot less features. But if you don't need the new features (HD video, new art filters, Photo Story, touch screen, 120fps video, low light modes, smaller size, etc.) then I guess an XZ-1 is a bargain :)
