All of these images were taken from our B&B in Northumberland. Isnt it lovely?
I would appreciate any comments on these.

Which of these two boat pictures do you think works best?

I hope you dont mind me posting 5 in one post!
The images do seem to have lost a bit of 'sparkle' in compression.

I prefer the second boat picture, all except for one personal niggle. The top of the right mast goes out of frame. Most folks probably wouldn't mind :)

Regarding picture quality, I figure these might be over compressed as one can see the jpeg artefacts swarming round the small details;

FWIW - I usually upload pictures to my gallery then link to them in my postings. That seems to retain best quality. I also use as little compression as possible, thus a 800 x 600 image ends up around 200Kb.

Like the silhouette BTW

I agree totally about the mast. That was the reason I cropped it in the first place and came up with the tall thin version.

Hi Pete,
Had a look at all the images I took and think I have a version without chopped off mast!
Re picture quality I resize to 600 on longest length, then save for web, upload to gallery and link. If I dont save for web the images are too large as I start with RAW files. I aim for size of 200kb ish. Not sure how I can improve the quality further.
Thanks for the thoughts

Hi again Pete
Followed your method and saved as large file rather than maximim in jpeg with gave a size small enough to post. Also I posted full size rather than medium image which I have been using when linking to my gallery.

I think it looks better. Thanks
