Here is a monochrome treatment of the three boat/sheds on Lindisfarne.

Any opinions on this shot??

I like it, and the clouds are really good - I think I'd be tempted to crank up the contrast on it though...

Good point.

The first time I saw an image of these in AP years ago, the ends were painted white and it was shot against a mega gloomy sky

No such luck on my visit. The colour shot is lack-lustre, hence the mono conversion. There are two other faults with this shot in my book, but I am interested to see what other folk's reactions are..

I like the image but would like to have had it moved just a touch to the left to get that third structure in. Contrast looks ok to me might have boosted the sky using levels.

Missing left edge. Yes, exactly, that's one of the two problems that I see.

I remember it was a rush to get the shot, (are you taking more pictures?) but I think there was another reason. I recall the National Trust have erected an admissions shed next to the third boat, and maybe I was trying to avoid it. In an ideal world the three boats would be complete.

The other element that causes me doubts are the doors... They were just as I found them - but there was no-one about, I could have rearranged them I guess?

Doors look ok to me, I would have left them or maybe opened the third one?

The horizon on the rhs looks slightly awry.

All good comments - I have taken them to heart and done this version.

The rhs crop resolves the cropped left hand boat, and also the horizon issue. Lots more contrast.

Sorry about the doors. The third one was locked :)

Improvement???

Yes and No (no pleaseing some people *laugh)

I like the sky, think it adds, the crop on the huts t-up but I feel there is a little to much contast on the boats now.

I find that in the first one you had nice detail and texture on the huts plus the darkness of the open door invited you in.

On the second one I find the increased contrast, on the huts, has made them alot 'harder' and you can now see there is something in the door loosing its "come in and see whats here" appeal (if that makes sence).

Only my opinion and still a nice image.
