Stupid question, but you weren't too close, were you?

Each lens has a closest focus point, Roberta, too close and it will just hunt, not focus.
Easy way to get it right ?
Set lens to 14mm end, focus and then zoom in
!4-42mm closest focus is 1ft3ins ( 0.38mtr )

If you look near the red dot, it will tell you on the Lens :)

Even when I use the (new) micro 4/3's 60mm macro lens, it will hunt if I've misjudged & have it too close. I have the option to drive it quickly to 1:1 to check that I'm not too close. BTW, it can be bought at a discount price from a number of suppliers, but not only that, Olympus has a 20% Cash Back offer on that & some other M4/3's lenses up till the end of January.

I think I've seen thatwith other lenses and you pull back this was going in further again with a x2 in the corner. I've never seen it before. the viewfinder went from slightly blury thistle, to the thistle filling the eyepiece and this x2.
As if taking it to 1 to 1
