I have noticed that Panasonic have introduced this new flash. Two questions is it the same as the Olympus FL600 and is it compatible with the OM-D? If they are the same flash with different badges the DMW-FL360LE seems to be the better option?

In the past Panasonic flashes have not featured the wireless remote capability of R-series Olympus flash models. But now the Panasonic GH3 has finally adopted the Olympus wireless remote control system I see that the DMW-FL360LE also has wireless RC capability. However, this seems to be an evolution of the FL-36R, and is not as powerful as the FL-600R.

Correction! I beg your pardon - the FL-600R has a GN of 50 at ISO 200 but at ISO 100 it's 36, so it's the same as the FL-36 and so the FL-600 IS the FL-36 replacement (FL-36Rs are now quite difficult to find new).

Thank you for your advice Ian, I have read in another forum that Oly flashes are made by Panasonic and whether that is true or not I don't know! However, I have gone ahead and purchased the Panasonic version.

Hi Harbrimar,

Can you confirm that the Panasonic FL360LE is fired by the OM-D's FL-LM2 flashgun please?

Hi Chris
Unfortunately I cant help with the answer, I decided to get a Lumix GH-3 in the end. If I can find someone local with an EM-5 I will give it a try.
