View Full Version : SD card dilemma!

I was just wondering what SD cards people use in their OMD's?
I was looking at the Sandisk 16GB cards, and there is quite a price difference between the 45 MB/s at around 12, and the 95 MB/s at around 30.
Does the read/write speed difference warrant an extra 18?
Thank you for your thoughts in advance!

I use the lower speed version with no problem in my E5 and OMD without any problem. But, I don't shoot video or use high speed burst rates for long periods of time, which is where the higher write speeds are needed. Also the Oly file sizes (even in RAW) are not as big as cameras with 20 or more megapixels, which may also need higher write speeds just to keep up.

I use the 45Mb/s in the xz-1 with no problems. Have video taken inside with on stage lighting and some outside in Norway in January where light was quite variable, again, with no real issues.

I believe this or a similar Q was raised a while back withthe consensus that the 45Mb/s was OK... the reason I opted for the slower card.

Thank you for the quick responses. I want to hone my photography skills before I attempt video, so it sounds like 45MB/s should be OK for me, and save me some money!
