That's a great offer! The only way it could be improved as far as I can see would be to give a free E-M5 with every 45mm f1.8 purchased! :D

Well done Olympus UK. *chr

How about a free 45mm for those who already have their E-M5. I can't afford another one (E-M5 that is). Just at the moment I can't afford the 45mm on its own.

Nothing new their then, looks like the E-M5 will have to wait a bit longer then.:(

Do you know if there is a list of approved vendors for the UK ? Particularly PCWorld/Currys Online. I bought a laptop from them and have a voucher for money off.

There may be quite a lot of people who are disappointed by the timing of this offer, having just bought their E-M5 a short while ago.

From my experience, Olympus are very generous if you ask them. When the E3 came out it was offered with a free grip which wasn't of interest to me as I found it uncomfortable so I waited for the price to come down.

Having bought my E3 with no offer I was very disappointed when an offer of a free FL-50R with every E3 came out two weeks later.

So I wrote a grovelling letter to Olympus telling them what a great camera it was, what a great customer I was, having just bought a 12-60 too, and how disappointed I felt with the timing of the offer as I would have bought in the offer period if I had known.

I didn't expect anything back but they came good (excellent) with a free FL-50R. So, if you are a good customer and have just bought an E-M5 in the last couple of weeks, I would give it a go. You may be pleasantly surprised. However, don't expect anything as it is a time-limited offer and completely discretionary to Olympus.

I see the 45mm lens comes free by redemption.

When the lens arrives (in the post I guess?) does it come with a 'receipt' or a stamped warranty card so as to validate the Olympus UK warranty?

How long is the Olympus UK lens warranty?

DJMC

Hmmm.........

I see the OM-D body price is down to £700 now, and selling the 45mm lens (I have it already) would drop this to around £500 effectively (I can't see 45mm lens prices falling much as who would sell the best lens!?).

Now, whilst I'm in my E-PL2 vs. E-PM1 vs. E-1 quandry it appears to me I could flog 'em all and just buy the OM'D now it's a semi-reasonable price?

BUT WAIT... This is what Olympus want me to do! Thay're targeting the 'sticky' ones like me in a last ditch drive to sell me an OM-D!
Have the E-PL5 and E-PM2 been announced to make us think that's all that's on offer for now? Has the stage been reached where Olympus want to shift the 'old' OM-D leftovers before announcing the surprise OM-2d - the one with the PDAF/CDAF issue sorted?

I have a funny feeling about this.....

I got the never-ready case but would have preferred the lens offer.

Does anyone actually use the case? While it is quite nicely made of good quality leather I find it impractical in use. When you take the top cover off what do you do with it? It is too big and stiff to be rolled up and put in a pocket. If the cover is left off it becomes a sort of half-case but as it has three large press studs on the bottom the camera will not stand on its base when put down.

Depending upon whether or not you actually want the 45mm f1.8 (seems to be around the £210 mark online) you could just get the OMD plus 12-50 for a shade over £850 but I guess that would be a grey import with a one year warranty. With the cheapest 'official' price for the body and lens being around £1050, there isn't much difference. You pays your money..................

I think that I would prefer the grips to the lens actually but the deal is dead and gone!

While these offers are nice, I seem to keep getting it wrong!

With the E-3, I got the free HLD-4 grip and rucsac. I gave the rucsac away, and hardly use the HLD-4.

I bought the OM-D in July and got the free case, which I don't want, and haven't used, but had to buy the grip, which was free initially. Should have waited for the free 45mm f1.8! Ah, well.

It may depend who you are buying it from. Prices like that tend to be grey imports in the UK and may be the same in Ireland

The rule is that the retailes must have bought it from us in the UK either direct or via an authorised distributor who has.

Let us know who it is and we can confirm

It is Conns who are ok and i just reread that it was a body

I suspect that this is a currency thing - prices set when the pound was weaker.

This may well be sorted out soon but for now this dealer is part oif the offer

Mark, I note that ProCameraShop in Cumbria is not included in the deal as they source from outside the UK.

However as a small compensation my additional camera body did include a UK 3 pin plug lead to the charger and a printed manual in addition to the electronic version. :D

Oh, and the rear LCD bezel wasn't cracked either!!

But no free lens for me from Olympus UK, rather understandingly.

Is it correct that a free one is awarded to the first member of this forum to reach 10,000 posts? :D

Oly UK are now offering 45mm lens + extra battery OR grip + extra battery for every purchase of OMD-EM5 body only or body + kit lens. This promotion is on until 31st March 2013.
Unfortunately Amazon's price has gone up to £1138 at the time of this post.
I found it much much cheaper at SLR Hut, which seems to be a legit outfit, so I have a couple of questions and would be really grateful for inputs:
1. Does anyone else have experience with SLR HUT (http://slrhut.co.uk/product/ID926C5/google)
2. Are purchases from this seller eligible for the promotion?

I don't know them, but they are based in New York. I presume they are including UK taxes. It certainly won't qualify for the Oly UK offer, as the stock is not sourced from them. You'll probably get 1 year warranty from Oly, not the two years you get in Europe. Watch out for their 3 year extended warranty, which adds £162 to the price.

As always, with an unknown supplier, entering its name in google.com makes sense. You may draw your own conclusions.

The rules are simple.

They have to buy direct from Olympus UK and so anyone outside is not included.

That way you are sure to get the Euro two year warranty as well.

Thanks guys. Does anyone here know of any authorised UK dealer selling the body + kit lens for around £1000 or lower?

You must be kidding! It's never got anywhere near that low. Cheapest at the moment from proper UK dealers is £1138 I think. Nearly all the same price. Cheapest in the US is around £700, with one year's warranty, and no offers. If you take into account the Oly UK offer, it's not far off, plus 2 years warranty.
