View Full Version : Some Macro Fun with the EM-5 + 45mm f2.8 macro

22nd September 2012, 03:35 PM
I picked up a used but mint Panasonic 45mm f2.8 macro a wekk or so back and had a chance to give it a bit of a work out today, with the help of my friendly local bees and hoverflies.

Mainly shot uisng my Oly FL36 mounted on the hot-shoe, manual mode with the gun in manual FP setting.

I also had a quick play with my kenko tubes but found that although the 45 f2.8 works with them they do not lock onto the lens and unless you fancy holding the lens in place (very scary) I wouldn't recommend this combo

Here is some of the output from this session,

first, a small bumble bee trying to get into a Penstemon bloom

this one made it and is happily feeding inside the bell of the flower

A Dronefly resting on variegated Laurel, cleaning its tongue

Dronefly feeding on Japanese Anenome

A Hoverfly in flight between feeds

thanks Tom, yes, so far the panny 45 macro is performing as I hoped (but that Olympus 60mm keeps making buy me noises every time I look at the reviews! :) )

Some great macro shots here Brian. There is a 45mm Panny/Leica that keeps winking at me at the local dealer, I will have to take the plunge and put someting else that I don't use much (at all!) for Px.
