I just want them to hurry up, before the bugs disappear. :)

I'm also interested in this lens... but rather concerned about it's special extending lens hood! Park Cameras say Olympus can give them no information about its availability or price, but that it should be available by the end of the year.

I'm pleased that it's splashproof. There doesn't appear to be anything to say against it. GAS is building up...

I believe the Lens Price will be 42.00 and should be available from launch date.

Before you get too many reader's hopes up... I think you mean the lens hood price will be 42? (And even then that will be cheap for Olympus!!)

I certainly hope you are right that it will be available with the lens, but it seems odd that Park Cameras can't get that information from Olympus UK. Let's hope you are right though!! :)

Sorry guys the lens hood will be 42. The lens will be 429. Already paid for the lens ordered from SRS.

I've just spotted this thread. That looks like an incredible lens! Definitely on my Christmas list now!

I see that Robin Wong has now posted the second part of his review of this lens at http://robinwong.blogspot.co.uk/2012/09/olympus-mzuiko-60mm-f28-macro-review_23.html where he covers its use for non-macro photography. It performs very well, and he did not miss not having a lens hood due to its lens coatings.

I'm still wondering if I need this lens... I have the 12-50 kit lens which has a near-macro function, albeit at a 40 odd mm focal length and a slower aperture. And I have the 45mm f1.8 for low-light level shots. I'm very very tempted by the forthcoming Panasonic 30-100mm f2.8 which will be more versatile for general shooting needs. The justification would be for its macro performance, but will I use it enough to make it worth while? Is its better performance over the 12-50mm worth 429?

Oh well it's my birthday soon, so I'll see if I can afford it then I think!

I've given in and pre-ordered it and put the 60mm macro on my "buy when available on the 2nd hand market" as I can't justify spending that much on a new macro lens (however desirable) when I already have the 12-50 kit lens and a used 45mm f2.8 macro

Well as I have the PanaLeica 45mm macro which incidentally I am very pleased with,(especially the AF performance) I may wait a bit on this one. ;)

I'm tempted by this lens, though not necessarily for macro. I'm also tempted by the 75mm. But I can't afford either just now, with Australia looming!
