I have been asked to cover a charity ball, to photograph folk as they arrive and have prints ready for when they leave.
I have done this in the past but using a local lab to produce the prints.
I need advice on workflow and printer as I did it a very long time ago when we used something called film:D

I think dye sub printers are popular for this sort of thing. I've got an A6 HiTi and whilst I don't use it much now, the results are quite good. There are bigger than A6 dye subs made.

The prints are physically very robust - you can spill coffee or tea on them, wipe them on your jeans and they're as good as new.

If you're shooting Jpegs and get it right in camera, how about something like a Kodak 5300? Prints straight off the card onto either 6x4 or A4, with cheap carts and surprisingly good quality. No 'puter needed.

Hey Dave

There are several companies who hire out Dye Sub printers... here's one you might like to look at;
