View Full Version : Anyone here using the Graduation function?

I see the OM-D has a Graduation function (looks like an 'S' with an /) as I seem to find the metering leaves the highlights a bit over-exposed. Just wondering if this function will sort out this issue or do people using it, think it has a negative impact on the sensor's dynamic range?

It's a useful feature if you shoot jpegs and have the highlight/shadow display enabled.

But of course it has no effect on raw files.

shooting jpeg has a negative effect on the camera's (or any other bayer type sensor) DR. It really is that simple! A modest overexposure of highlights in RAW is easily recoverable with a decent converter -- LR 4.1 is by common consent the best at present in this field -- but in jpeg you have far less to play with whatever tools there may be in camera.
