So many of the good aspects of portrate photography are depicted in this image, along with a number of "the rules" being pushed towards breaking.

All of which is good because we see so much of the "standard" construction of an image that when we are presented with something different, it makes us take notice and think about what we looking at.

I like tight crops and uncommon compositions, but that's my taste and it often differs to the majority of viewpoints. I first thought on this occasion to go with a more conventional view and say that the RHS should be cropped to a similar degree as the LHS is.

But second thoughts and further study, has brought me to the conclusion that, if the dark, vertical, thin band of hair on the lower LHS could be cloned away this would indeed do it for me.
