I have started a new thread for Olympics shots on our DPNow site, see:

It would be great to see some e-group members posting some event shots there :)

Do we have to write any captions in French - it appears to be the first language of the London Olympics?

I'm afraid that my command of the French language is limited to a rough translation of "My Aunt's fountain pen is leaking."

I thought it was something to do with being delighted with the size of his equipment :D

My daughter, Elizabeth (16) came home with some really very good shots after two days watching the Handball and Beach Volleyball events using a Pen E-PM1 with a 14-150 m.Zuiko lens. I have sorted some of the Beach Volleyball shots only so far. You can see them here (processed by me from RAW in Lightroom 4.1):

More to come!

Some of you must be going/have been to some of the events with a camera?

Regarding the French subject.....it is a rule of the Olympics that French is the language to start off with.....how they arranged with that I dunno as I thought the Olympics started in Greece, and by the way that is where they should be held all the time (my thoughts!) I dunno how they would handle the winter, perhaps have them in Switzerland that is closer to Greece than Canada.

I am off to the canoe slalom on Wednesday and have hired the m75-300 in anticipation of emulating Ian's brilliant shots !!! yeh right!!! Our seats appear to be very high up and I doubt I will have a good photo position so I am not expecting much. If I do get anything I will certainly post, other than that I will have to wait until the paralympics when I think I have better seats.

We have the team dressage final next Tuesday - again up in the gods so shall see what i can do with my 50-200. Security at North Greenwich Arena apparently prevented someone taking two lenses in (said there were new guidelines) so I shall probably leave the 12-60 at home. Might have the extension tube with me though....does that count?

All taken using a Pen E-PM1 and m.Zuiko 14-150 and developed from RAW by me in Lightroom 4.1.

Hoping some of you will post some Olympics shots in the above thread (]http://dpnow.com/forum2/showthread.php?p=66322#post66322) over at DPNow :)

Having problems uploading to DPNow, something to do with links and the number of posts I have. Anyway I will put them here instead.

Yesterday I was lucky enough to go to the Canoe Slalom, an excellent day with a brilliant atmosphere.
I hired the m75-300 and had intended to take a wide angle lens.....but packed the wrong lens, 40-140 instead of m14-140!!!! That will teach me to pack in haste. As a consequence I could only get telephoto shots, in fact it was quite liberating and I found myself concentrating more on composition and working within the limitations of the lens I had.
Some of these are cropped and I think that shows a bit in the quality of the image, but on the whole I was quite pleased.

The Italian (no3) was the Gold Medal winner.

Hi Shirley - I know you must have been quite a bit further back than I was because my shots were taken from the water bank, so your results are excellent.

I have fast-tracked your account on DPNow so you can post these on there now.

Cheers,

Ian

Thanks Ian,
Yes, we were in cheap seats, 30 rows UP!
Having said that we had a brilliant view of the whole course and I dont think I could have had a better photo taking seat. I did comment to my husband that I didn't suffer from lens envy but I did suffer from position envy, seeing all the accredited togs at the water's edge!!
I have edited some more pics and think I have some better shots, which I will add later. I am very impressed with the lens, in fact I have just sent an email requesting it for my paralympic trip!

Olympics started in Greece, and by the way that is where they should be held all the time (my thoughts!) I dunno how they would handle the winter, perhaps have them in Switzerland

... and have always been MY thoughts as well! I would also suggest a "White Flag Nation", to give the best athlets a chance to participate, no matter where they come from or if their respective national OC thinks they should be allowed to go.

I watch the games on TV as good as I can. You Brits did an outstanding job so far! But who on earth came up with the lila/violet design?!? Was this to see if Oly-cameras still have a week spot in catching this part of the spectrum?! [BTW, my E-30 does not show that flaw at all.]

Would like to see more "behind the scenes" shots, if anybody happen to have any? Keep 'em coming!

May the best athlet win,
Falk

I've been one of the 'Purple People' Games Makers (marshing at the road cycling events).

I only managed to grab a few shots before the Men's Time got underway as the rest of the I was too tied up with my duties. Also I don't think it looks right for marshals at cycling events to look as if they're only there for a great view (which doesn't always happen). Anyway, here are some I managed to take.
