Someone may be interested in the 45-200 lens from Argos. Currently on clearance offer at £199.99 with a free £10 voucher. If the £50 Panasonic cash back also applies- this is a steal. Catalogue number 569/4318.

*chrThanks Ken, I've already returned the 40-150 Oly lens as I wasn't completely satisfied with it. Having handled both lens I think this one will suit my needs better - slightly longer reach and with IS on the lens my German friend can also use it on her Panny when we go on holiday.

Hi Ken,

Thank you for posting the 'steal'. One left in local Argos - now reserved and I will pick it up on Tuesday.

Thanks Ken. I passed it on to my nephew and he reserved one at the local store to pick up this evening for his Panasonic G3. Unfortunately I will get the blame if he doesn't get on with it. ;)

It's not listed on the extended cash back, link here: http://www.panasonic.co.uk/html/en_GB/Products/What%27s+on+Offer/7777268/index.html#anker_7777271

Strangely the link from this page still says you have to buy qualifying lenses by 30th June 2012, even though the above link says it's been extended to 31st August. What has?

Got it! Although the one listed by Pana has an 'E' suffix whereas the Argos one doesn't. Could make all the difference!?

Hi Ken

Lens now purchased from the local Argos. Very pleased. I have applied for the 'cashback' as per the 'olybirder' reply online. All went well. The proof that it will happen will be the cashed cheque when received and processed. Panasonic state "allow 28 days".

Many thanks for the information. Will keep you informed as to progress.

When I applied for the cash back for my 100-300 the cheque came within the week, very pleased!

My nephew brought his lens into work yesterday and the code number on the box does have the 'E' after it. He has applied for a £50 cashback on the G3/14-42 kit and another £50 cashback on the lens. We shall see what happens.

Picked mine up yesterday and applied on-line for the cash-back. Just have to sit back and wait for the result.

As Argos were previously selling this at the '£xxx.xx correct' price, I can't see that there should be a problem with a refund. Bottom line, Argos/AN-OTHER purchases the item from Panasonic at their standard rates... what the 'legitimate' retailer does thereafter by reducing prices by way of making a sale, should be of no concern to Panasonic.

In 'real life' this may not apply, but one can only hope.

Fingers, toes and legs crossed... who knows, *smileysanta might have come early.

I have just received notification that my £50 cashback is currently being processed.
That means, including the £10 Argos voucher, my new lens has only cost me £139.99 instead of the £299.99 which Jessops are asking!

For information, my lens shipped with firmware 1.2. An update to 1.3 is available from the Panasonic website.

My nephew has just shown me the the cheque for £100 from Panasonic as cashback on his G3/14-42 kit and his 45-200 lens. That was quick and painless and a very worthwhile discount.

Ouch!

This is very tempting, but is it a good lens?

Ouch!

Hi, saw on http://camerapricebuster.co.uk/prod.php?n=Panasonic45-200mmF4-5.6ASPHMegaO.I.SlensH-FS045200&p=1160

this lens has dropped in price to £199.97 on Amazon and with the Panasonic cashback it'll be £149.97, wanted to ask about a couple of the negative points, does it collect dust inside the lens as one reviewer has mentioned and would the money be better spent on another lens?

Thanks

:)

Mine seemed to get a lump of dust inside the lens fairly easily. But it never showed on any pictures. FWIW that was my third 45-200, and the only one that gave satisfactory results. But I sold it 'cos I find Olympus lenses have that certain extra undefinable quality.

However, I love my Oly 40-150.

It's a fine lens for the original price - for £150 including the cash back it's an absolute steal! I had one last year when I got my G3 but traded it in for the Panyy 100-300 for the longer length. I love the reach the 300mm zoom gives me but always missed the carry around length of the 45-200. I've been looking at the Oly 40-150mm or the new Panny 45-150 as they are much lighter, but the IQ on the 200 is great, and I've just ordered one from Amazon - with the £50 back from Panasonic it's way too good a lens to turn down at that price. Go for it.
