Oly are enticing us again to get an E3 - this time with a free FL50R flash.

Check it out at http://www.olympus.co.uk/consumer/dslr_19417.htm

Still happy with my e330.

Got my E3 yesterday. Will be sending for the flash tomorrow. This flash seems to be a very good piece of kit from what I have read.:)

My E-3 was DoA, so was sent back to the dealer.

I now have a FL-50R though, and it came with all the attachments which I can use with my FL-50.

Now all I have to do is get another E-3

Am I reading the signs wrong, or are more folk having technical problems with the E-3 than other Olys in the current range?

Unfortunatly, that's the very question I was going to ask, as I too have seen several postings. :(

Perhaps Ian can shed some light on the issue.

Sorry to rain on the gloom but my E3 seems to work perfectly. I downloaded the firmware update last night and took some shots today. The dynamic range problem with the E510 does not appear on this camera and the viewfinder is great. Very sharp and vivid colour images seem to be the forte of this four thirds beast and I am warming to it considerably. Compared to my 5D, Which I have just sold, I feel that I am going to get much more exciting images with this piece of kit and the off camera flash is going to help in this respect.*chr

Sorry to hear about your problems Graham but when it is sorted I am sure you will be very happy.

I'm relieved that E-3 problems probably aren't as wide-spread as some forums seem to indicate. I think that your Oly versus 5D comments are right - I found it so after upgrading from my 5D to an E-510!

Graham - how long did it take for your flash to arrive after you sent off the receipt for the E3?
I sent my receipt etc off over 4 weeks ago and I'm still waiting :(

I got my E-3 about 10 days ago, sent off the forms the next day and the FL 50 arrived today first thing. Fantastic service. I've not used it yet but looks a good bit of kit with lots of extras (diffusers, stand etc). As for the E-3 I'm very impressed from the start, extremely quick to focus especially using the 12-60 swd lens but I've also noticed a definite improvement in performance over the E-510 using the 14-54 and the 70-300. I think that the 510 just shades the E-3 in colour depth but in every other aspect the E-3 wins hands down. I'm sorry, eyespy, to hear that you have not recieved yours yet, might be worth dropping Olympus Germany a line to let them know, hope it soon arrives.

Just an update on my experience with the E3 so far. It is like no camera I have ever handled before. It is a joy to use and experience. The image quality is outstanding and is better than my old 5D. I am now a confirmed Olympus nut.The smoothness of the files is outstanding and gives the lie to the supposed quality of the full frame sensor. there have been quite a few adverse comments of the camera by afficionados on the net but looking in my world I find the quality of the images far and away different to the standard Dslr cameras of today. Obviously you either like them or not but I find them exciting and with a quality that exceeds my expectations. As for the pixel peeping masses, just remember it is the image and not the pixels that make the picture.
I am very happy with my new purchase.

Best regards:)
