Personally this would have been more than just a gnats bollock better than a free grip and backpack like on earlier promo's, but I'm happy just for a freebie, whatever it is.

Very tempting, as I could flog the flash to help defray the cost of the E3. Something tells me FL-50Rs aren't selling as well as Oly would like...

I understand there's a cashback offer in the USA and some European states. I think I'd rather have that, but I suppose we should be grateful for any freebie!

Yeah, cold hard cash would be better, but like you say, you can always sell the FL50-R. They tend to go for 220 ish on ebay, so after fees you could say its like 200 cash back :)

Better do it quick because if too many go on ebay at once, the going price is bound to fall!

This is a great deal - with the best price being 850 for an E-3, this could, for the budget-conscious deciding to sell the flash, bring the final price down to 650 or so. It's been my observation that the price of any dSLR roughly halves every 12 months, so this latest offering feels like a last-ditch attempt to keep prices premium before the inevitable firesale. Olympus America is soon to release its "E-3 Premium Outfit" in fact, an E-3, FL-50R and 12-60mm bundle for $2499. Certainly a sign of things to come.
