Old cheapskate here plans to use the E-M5 with my 14-54 Mk2 and the MMF-1 adapter. So: The camera and lens are splash proof but the adapter isn't.

Question: How splash proof isn't the MMF-1?

I mean, it has no moving rings for zoom/focus/aperture, just the front/rear bayonets and the push button thing for the lens release. Shirley one could get away with the MMF-1 rather than shelling out on a MMF-3?

BTW, I do have some silicone sealer...

Smear it in Vaseline, you'll be OK!

(only kidding children - don't try this at home)

Seriously, I would imagine that the adaptor is lightproof, so I would have thought that a light shower wouldn't harm anything?

Nooooooo! Vaseline will get onto the electrical contacts...

The adapter will be sealed on the side that the lens fits (the front of the adapter) because the rubber skirt is on the lens there. But the adapter won't be sealed where it meets the body.

I can remember using vaseline on the front of the lens...

I was being polite when I mentioned Vaseline. Other, er, lubricants are available
