Olympus will be exhibiting at Focus on Imaging at the Birmingham NEC after all. Wonder why that could be?! :D

I may even be doing some stand talks... (not that I want to put you all off )

More news later.

I thought they were going, your post implies that at some point they wern't? I've got my ticket and am waiting with great anticipation to see their new camera or cameras? I look forward to meeting you if you are there on Sunday.

I am sure that when notification first came out they were listed - and that was before many knew about a new camera being released.

Well it is an amateur biased show these days from what I understand. :D

Went there last year - plenty of pro stuff around and lots of cheap/free things too. Make sure you have cash and some stands don't have card readers...

I haven't been since the mid 90's when it was a pros only show. I don't recall any of the 35mm camera makers being there in those days. From what I recall there was a lot of photo lab and studio equipment on display.

Olympus will have an 11 metre wide stand featuring a large plasma display at one end and a raised platform along the centre. Guest speakers are being contacted right now and I have been offered some slots. Two of the dancers from BBC TV's Strictly Come Dancing will be guests on the stand and shooting sessions featuring the new E-M5 are planned.

I can also update you on the promised studio sessions discussed late last year. These were secretly deferred to make time for the new camera, which will ship in April. So we're now planning events in London and Birmingham around the end of April or early May. sorry for that delay but it wasn't possible to explain why until now. More details on this in due course :)

I'll be there, mostly likely on the Sunday.

The in-laws do have some uses (live in Birmingham so somewhere to crash for the night)!

I always go on Sunday so I can compile a show report on DPNow.com so people can see a preview of the show after day one. But it looks like I'll be back for a day or two during the week this year.

Think I'm going to visit for the first time to have a look at the new beastie.

Probably Monday so I can drive up Late Sunday and probably stay at a Travel lodge or some such and then join the throng on the Olympus stand on the Monday. Guess I'll have to drive home afterwards which is a drag but it gets too expensive otherwise.

Who else will go on Monday? Perhaps a meet for a forum members coffee or maybe hassle Ian on the stand *yes

cheers

I went to Focus last year with a view to trying out the new E-5, only to find that Olympus gear was like hens teeth to find... a few micro 4/3 bits on the stands, but no full 4/3. Apparently there was an E-5 on one stand..but only found out about it after the event.
I've since considered the e-p3 (and went to a great evening in London organised by this group), but it didn't have weatherproof body or built in viewfinder... so I went with the E-5 and XZ-1 (for travel).
The OM-D appears at first glance to be be a good replacement for both my current cameras...
I'll be a Focus again this year...most likely the Monday.. so hopefully will get some time with the new wee beastie...

btw...shame about the back screen not being fully articulated...wasn't keen on the implementation on the e-p3...also, would it have been so hard to put a small flash in the body?

Anyway... looking forward to the show...

Thanks Stephen. Fingers crossed currently going through final selection and mounting of the prints. Think I have re printed one 5 times.

Sunday was fairly busy last year but not that bad really. This year it's going to be full of Olympus fans though ;)

Organised camera club trip for me but on the Sunday. Only a tenner therefore much cheaper than driving and parking. See you at the Olympus stand guys!
