A colleague of mine has just bought an E-PL3 camera (twin lens kit set) and now wants some advice for a good M43 macro lens.
She hasn't got the four thirds to M43 adapter, so can anyone her recommend decent macro lens (max 350 approx).
Any hints appreciated

MMF-2 and Zuiko 35mm Macro (4/3) should cost around 350.

:)Thank you for your suggestion, I have actually just offered her to borrow mu 35 mm macro and mmf-2 adapter.
I wonder if any of the medium price ranged M43 zoom lenses are useful for macro ?
To be honest I have no experience with oher M43 lenses than the 17 mm pan-cake, 14-42 and 40-150 kit lenses.
I am going to buy the 45 mm 1.8 soon but this is not suitable for macro as far as I know

Both 40-150mm and 14-42mm lenses are good for close-ups (especially the latter) due to their min. focus distance but they cannot produce real macro magnifications.

So you really need a true macro lens for more serious work.
As far as I know, the Zuiko 35mm is the only affordable true MACRO lens (1:1 which translates into 2:1 magnification due to the 2x crop of the 4/3 sensor size).

Zuiko 45mm f/1.8 is definitely not suitable for macro work.

I used to own Zuiko 35mm MACRO and it worked pretty well on my E-P1 with the MMF-2 adapter.
But then I purchased the Zuiko 50mm f/2 MACRO (1:2 instead of 1:1 unfortunately) since I preferred its superior optics for portraits and low-light conditions.

Thank you very much for your suggestions,
I will pass on your advice this evening as we are having our monthly meeting in IBM Photoclub.
Actually I have the 35 mm and mmf2 adapter but I haven't had the opporunity to test it on my E-P3

On the other hand I was much pleased with the 40-150 mm especially when using a FL-36R flash in remote mode

What do you think about this lens?
