I understand that a small number of E-3s were shipped without warranty cards in the boxes. If you have an E-3 without a warranty card, the serial number plus a note to the effect will be absolutely fine when registering your rucksack or rucksack and HLD-4 grip claim.

Ian,
What's all this about warranty cards? I have just checked on Olympus UK's site and both offers say the same thing:
1. Ensure that your current E-System camera is officially registered
2. Register your new Olympus E-3 by 31 December 2007
3. Post, fax or email your purchase receipt to.....
No mention is made of warranty cards or serial numbers. Can you please clarify.
Thanks.

I'm corresponding with both Olympus UK and Olympus Europe to clarify this once and for all. I hope to do this tomorrow.

Thanks for that Ian. I think a lot of us are a bit confused. Though that is my normal state.

If I remember correctly the instructions for the Grip asked for the invoice/reciept to be e-mailed to the given address.
The instructions for the Back Pack asked for a copy of the invoice/reciept [i]and[i] warranty card to be e-mailed to the given address (same address as the grip)
Thats what I did, I already had an account on the Olympus website in addition to having E-System Club membership and had all my previously purchased equipment registered. I sent the e-mails after registering my E-3. The e-mail was sent from the same account as the one I used for Olympus Newsletters (e-mail)
Hopefully that should cover the requirements.

The Oly glossy leaflet I picked at the Camera shop states:
In both cases, once you have bought your E-3 you will need to provide details of your European warranty card and purchase receipt/invoice in order to claim your free products which will be sent to your home address.
I sent a scan of both via email though the web site only asks for the invoice.
