View Full Version : An Englishman in Scotland

Hi, I've just enrolled in this academy, and thought I'd better introduce myself.
I'm an ex-IT Strategist who jumped the rat-race, and now I live and work as a part-time caretaker on a large country estate just outside Edinburgh, which gives me access to beautiful countryside and wildlife literally outside my front door.
I moved over to an E-510 from a Canon 5D system last November, having found that the Canon gave my arthritic shoulders too much trouble. I tested the water by buying a 510 with the standard 14-42, and immediately felt at home. So much so that I Ebayed all my Canon system, and now have the E-510, 7-14, 14-42, 70-150 (f3.5 version), and a 50-200 SWD on its way. Also got the EC-14 cheap s/h on Ebay! All this funded by the sale of the Canon stuff, with change!
My principal interests are landscape and industrial archaeology, specialising at the moment on dereliction and decay, and I find the 7-14 especially suited to this. Examples can be found on the "Dereliction" gallery on my web site, www.argyllphotos.com.
Although I consider myself a technically competent though artistically challenged old-school photographer, having been into the sport since I was 10, I am always wanting to learn and gain inspiration from others, and in turn help others if I can.

Scotland's nice, even though it's a bit chilly sometimes :)
