I think I must have 'come of age' this afternoon because I've managed to lose a lens cap somewhere in the woods in the rain. *laugh

I've had a quick look on that auction site and saw a few that look as if they work/fit, including one really budget one that has a string or something to attach the lens cap to the camera, although it didn't show how it works.

Does anybody have any tips for choosing a replacement? Would I be best getting one from an Oly dealer?

I like the newer ones which let you remove it by pushing the two notches in the middle rather than the outside edge – makes life easier when you've got a lens hood on. I always put my lens cap in the same pocket, same with keys, wallet etc.

I agree, although my two most frequently used lenses (14-54 and 11-22) have Cokin P filter holders affixed most of the time. Haven't lost one of the slide-in front covers yet - but surely will now! :D

7dayshop ( http://www.7dayshop.com ) have a good range of centre pinch sizes.

I think that was the problem, I'd but a plastic bag in my pocket too and pulled it out to kneel on, then again to cover the camera because it started raining. Silly really. :(

Does anybody know if the centre pinch caps with the string loop on the side will fit on the lens with the lens cap in place?

hi ellie

the cap with the centre pinch i think is the easiest to use with the lens cap in place, as with the side pinch design you cant get your fingers to it if the lens cap is in place
hope that makes sense

The one I got from 7daysshop for 14-42 kit lens does just. I have to take the cap off to to fit the lens hood.

The clearance is tight so I would not assume that all sizes will fit until they are tested. Of course at the price they are charging it is worth getting one just to see

Hope that helps

Can you put the lens cap on/off while the lens hood is in place?

I can't understand why I can't seem to find Olympus lens caps for sale anywhere.http://www.thehealthymom.com/wp-content/plugins/more-smilies/maidacollection/dunno.gif

I always seem to get my lens caps mixed up. After all, iif the cap fits.....:)

As it happens, I have a Mamiya lens cap on my E1 at the moment, (from my 645), and I was getting some very puzzled looks from a fellow tog when we were out at the weekend.:D
