Can anyone confirm if the Oly 70-300 4/3 lens supports Contrast Auto focus (CAF) and will work with the mFT cameras for fast focus. It appears that it does, at least the Panasonic lens compatibility chart says so but just want to confirm.

It does according to Olympus website but you have to update the firmware to Ver. 1.2

Version 1.2 - 18.03.2009
- Contrast AF is available if it is supported by the camera. (To secure the focusing accuracy, focusing is may be slow at the super-tele position, depending on the object situation)

According to Olympus it is one of the lenses that supports Contrast AF.

I've used mine in live view mode quite a few times after updating the firmware and it worked very well, as here on the E-30 using LV and just putting the camera on the ground.

1/10s f/16.0 at 190.0mm iso200

Strangely enough I may be selling mine soon as I maybe down sizing my equipment.

Hmmmm, it's about the same size as the Panasonic 100-300 mFT lens but about half the price second hand....and since I now have a redundant mFT - FT adaptor it makes sense to get one, the only downside is I don't get the OIS the Pani lens has but I can live without it I think.

Send me a PM when you are selling with the details.

Actually I just reconsidered and have just ordered the Pani 100-300 mFT lens.

Anyone bought the Olympus 75-300mm mFT at 660 its not cheap and a big jump from the cost of the 40-150mm mFT.
Frankly I can buy a Canon 550D and a 75-300mm lens and have change!

You can get them from SRS for 575 which is cheaper, although the Lumix 100-300 mFT lens is only about 430 and is a very good lens although a wee bit plasticy.
