Shamelessly stolen from Talkphotography....

I take a picture, and state what the next one should be, then the person that submits that picture decided and so on....

And the next shall be:-

From Dylan Thomas "cry, cry at the failing of the light"

Whether as the photographers eternal lament - or the poets - or any other interpretation

Nick Temple-Fry
13th April 2008, 01:51 AM
Yes I know it should be:-

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light

But it is still the photographers lament.

(pretension slightly punctuated)

Nick

I know they say a pictures worth a thousand words but i think you would be hard pressed to do justice to Dylan Thomas's poem with a image.

This is the only image I have that gets slightly close to it.

Hey, this isn't the Ark, it's much older than that! I'm not sure where all the animals went, but wherever it was no doubt they did it two by two.

Maybe I have stretched the brief a little, but it's just a bit of fun and if anyone wants to keep the thread moving with a boat that floats, feel free!

Ampney St Peter
The Sheela na gig overlooking the font,
these early carvings are often misrepresented
by church authorities as examples of
pagan influence on the church. It is
more likely that they represent a continuation
of earliest christian belief where the fact that
Christ became mortal through his birth from the womb
of Mary was the main christian miracle.

Cor,thats going back a bit but It will do for me.

Somewhere I have a picture of me holding the prototype E-1 with the 300mm f/2.8 attached at the same preview event. I was asked to wear cotton gloves while holding it :)

The preview was held at the Maverick helicopter tour company's airport terminal in Las Vegas prior to a flight out to the Grand Canyon. The demonstation of the E-1 prototype system there a massive surprise and my site, DPNow, got the exclusive story. They showed the E-1 body, grip, 50mm macro, 14-54, 50-200 and 300mm f/2.8. The 11-22 might have been there, not sure. All had bits of black tape covering signage :D

Ok it could be used for that I guess. However we used them for anything that was a measurement made per minute. Such as flow rates Gallons/min, slow speed RPM, etc., etc..

Our Woolworths. Closing down, and just 5 days to go before it closes for ever on 7th January.

There were loads and loads of people in the shop today, but sadly not very much to buy although I got several books at a very reasonable price, and a spirit level too for less than 50p. They really are planning to sell the fixtures and fittings. :(

Apart from a 'big' food-only supermarket (Waitrose) it's the largest shop in our town and has always been busy. There isn't anywhere else within easy reach that sells the sort of things you could buy there. The staff have always friendly and helpful too, it will be sadly missed.

mike_j
12th January 2009, 09:37 AM
I don't know exactly but first thoughts are that I would work in darkness. Lock the camera open and simply trigger the flash gun. To trigger it I would build a little infrared photoelectric switch to be operated by the contents bursting out of the balloon. Alternatively it might be enough to have a microswitch operated by the bursting balloon - possibly in the cord supporting theballoon.

Certainly be a bit of trial and error involved in the timing.

Actually it's very easy, several of us did it at a studio tutorial session at Kaz Studios. All you need is a sound activated flash trigger and a high speed flash gun. Unfortunatly this one bounced off the sharp point. I do have several that worked but really wanted to see what else people have managed to do with high speed flash:cool:
