View Full Version : Advice about 150mm and C-AF

I currently have this lens on hire and am having fun with it. When the focusing is right the quality is very impressive especially when fully open. Todays subject was rowing and while quality when focused correctly is excelent I had many more focus failures than with 50-200 non SWD.

I normally use the diamond pattern with C-AF and allow a brief pause after pressing shutter to give camera time to lock onto subject. For 150mm's shallower depth of field I needed to position diamond on rowers head. This was probably the reason why so many images were focussed on subject behind rower or just totally blurred. I tried with and with EC-14 and EC-14 just makes situation worse.

So just wondered if any users of this lens had any thoughts of how to get get more keepers with E-3.

Have looked at Oly_OM informative thread on this lens, but did not see any comment about this.

I don't have any experience with the 150mm but with the 300mm f2.8 the only method I use with the subjects I am interested in is small spot, as anything else gives me the problem you are getting.

Oh what a frustrating lens/camera combination. Awsome when you get it right though :)
