Great advert for the 70-300mm lens Paul, both cracking shots.

I like first duck shot. Nice capture of the purple/blue around its neck.

I am starting to think that there is a problem with my 70-300 or me. I cannot seem to take sharply focused shots unless there is an awful lot of light. I mean really really sunny.

I have seen quite a few pictures from the 70-300.I'm not saying everyones are like it but quite a few look a bit flat. One on my friends has this lens and is not over happy with it.He has tried my 50-200 and gets much better results

Paul your shots look very good.

I like both images. Kinda makes me feel sad that I never managed anything near those with my 70-300.

Nice shots I especially like the first one. The comments I've seen about the 70-300 make me wonder if there is a quality control issue. The postings on this and other forums are split between those that are getting great pictures and those that just can't get sharp results.

I was very close to getting a 70-300 but have held back since I saw many are getting indifferent results. Was wondering if there was a QC issue?

No 1 though is a lovely pic, great colour.

Thanks guys, I've never had a problem with sharp image from it (and I'm nearly always shooting wide open) unless it was down to me pushing the shutter speed and my shakey hands to the limit.:)

I do find that if it misses the focus it does tend hunt through the focus but no more than the 40-150 did .
