Hi All, I have just got the 9 - 18, went out yesterday only for a hour and had a play, I must say when I looked at them last nigt was disapointed as they apear very soft, copmared with my 12 - 60.

This seems contrary to what I would have expected.
What aperture/s were you using?
Can you post some images for us to have a look at?

Hi

I have a 9-18 myself and have so far no reasons to complain about images not being sharp.

Of course the 12-60 is roughly double the price of the 9-18 and is an exeptionally good lens in its own right, but the 9-18 is highly rated. Andy Westlake at dpreview.com gave the 9-18 8.5/10 for image quality and the 12-60 9/10. Both were overall rated 'Highly Recommended'.

So if you are concerned about your lens, it could be faulty.

No problems at all with my 9-18. I find it an excellant lens, maybe yours is faulty or the auto focus not spot on. Put it on a tripod and manually focus at 100 iso. It may tell you something.-make sure you use a remote release or 12 secods delay.
