11AM and 2PM sessions at the Digital Depot Warehouse Club venue, which is part of their Imaging Academy.

I will be there for the morning session and I will bring an E-420 and the pancake lens. As I mentioned before, if you have any non-Olympus lenses that are Four Thirds compatible, or a Lumix Four Thirds body (especially an L10), I'd be interested in trying out the new lens with your body and vice versa :)

Good morning -

We were going to show our faces but with the recent flurry of snow :( will not now do so due to the young one we are looking after. Amazing the day we wanted to go out she is still *zzz.
If there is another event I'm sure we will attend as she returns home next weekend.

Regards. Barr1e

Just got back (via my sister's place in Ware) - was pleased to meet Xpres, CaptainD and Invicta this morning. Sorry if I missed anyone else.

Pictures coming up later this evening :)

No one there from the forum this afternoon. It was good to learn some more about my E-3 though. I wanted the 70-300mm but they sold out this morning, gotta wait now:-(

Looks like a fun time was had by all! thanks for the shots Ian.

The pancake lens looks much nicer on the E-1 than it did on the E-3!

Kind Regards

Looks like that was an interesting session folks, hope everyone hasn't spent out on their credit cards eh!!

Interestingly, I spot that the softbox in the first model shot is very much closer to the models left shoulder than I have ever placed mine. I must do some experimentation... it looks only a foot or so away to me, was this the case?

No idea how this turned up in my camera bag

When I got home I noticed Digital depot had forgotten to take the 10% off, hope I can get that sorted out on Monday.

Also picked up a tip from Perry (I think that is his name).

In live view and manual focusing press the OK button to zoom in x5 x7 x10. Handy for getting the critical focus. It works too, been playing with that this morning and the liveview quality is good enough to focus at x10 mag.

I use this all the time with my legacy lenses... it's superb for waist level shooting, with the LCD flipped out onto your left wrist.

It was really nice to met you all, please let us know how you get on with your new 50-200 SWD. I would be interested in your thoughts between the old and the new SWD version. A really enjoyable day I thought with many interesting people who were only too happy to share their knowledge.

I suspect that many people went home with strange voices in their head tempting them to buy something new. My star bit of kit of the day was the 7-14mm lens although on the way out I got a bad case of the wants for a Manfrotto 055 MF4.

Mind you my dear wife bought a E-system bag so it seems that she is serious about a E-4XX. Now I will have to get used to carrying my own kit in the future!!

Thanks to all at the Digial Depot and Olympus who make days like this possible.

You've got the lens hood on upside down. The hole goes at the bottom to drain any water out.

True, that would have solved the issue I have in the photo with blown highlights aound the filter shutter as well.

Unexpectedly, the other half agreed to go to this - "It makes up for all the time you spend waiting for me in clothes shops". Honest, that's what she said.

Very interesting and useful. The positive is that I no longer lust after a 300mm or 90-250mm (just tooooooo big and heavy). The negative is that I now, absolutely must, have an E3. I know people have been critical of the handling, but it suited me fine - I was also surprised how light it is. I will have to start saving properly and hope the price drops some more.

The wife also liked the look of the E420, especially with the pancake. What a joy to hold something than actually felt like an OM... If only it had IS!

Thoroughly good way of spending two hours IMHO.
