What a fantastic thread. OK, it's a bit pixel peepish, but it certainly paints the E-5 as a good competitor to the D700. How's that for a step up then.

Can't wait to get hold of mine now. Roll on more paid for photoshoots and next Feb!

I was reading through DP reviews review of the E3 earlier and came across the introduction pricing. The E3 was brought out at 1099 and you could have it with the 12-60 for 1699.

It makes me wonder what on earth they've done to the E5 in the past 3 years for it to be introduced at a third more?


It seems to me that the sensor is an older design, having been used in one of the Pens, the rest of the camera doesn't seem to be much of a difference over the E3 to justify the price difference!

Fair enough Pepper but what has that go to do with this thread???!!!

I agree John. A fascinating thread. I wish I could afford an E-5. Or even an E-3!

THe Pound to dollar rate has changed quite a bit from 2007 when the E3 came out - then it was about 2$ to the pound - now it is about 1.5 and during the summer when the product prices would have been set it was about 1.45 $ to the .
