I was fortunate a few days ago to capture what I originally thought was a sparrowhawk.

I had spent some time waiting for the mist to clear and was about to leave the location, when to my right the sky turned blue and above me to the right was the bird about to drop down for lunch.

Nice capture Barr1e. The detail in the tail feathers is great.
Lucky it was a hovering Kestrel. If it was a Sparrowhawk you'd have fallen over trying to pan fast enough.:D:D

Ah yes, I had wondered about that as my understanding was that sparrowhawks spend most of their time in dense woods, specialising in zipping through the branches expertly in search of prey.

It's still a fab shot, nevertheless!
