I had not planned on driving through thick mist to Quainton. I had checked the weather - all OK. I also checked the centre's opening time.

Imagine my thoughts when I arrived. I couldn't see the sheds, lines, engines and was met with a large CLOSED sign because they were dressing the site for the coming season. *waving

However, a visit to the office was met with a friendly guy who said I could go into the hall and take some pics there.

I respected his wishes but found myself in the close vicinity of the centre and didn't want to pass up an opportunity of firing up my new best friend - the E-5 (still un-named). The mist lifted sufficiently to take a few shots.
I'll shall have to return another day because the sheds contain some real gems.

I enjoyed it a lot - loved the misty shots especially, as well as the 'detail' shots.

Anyone seen the specs of the Dynamic Range on the E-5 compared to other Oly-models?

A nice series, looks like an interesting place to visit. I particularly like the cobweb shot.

Maybe I'm a purist - but I not sure I like to see one of the great GWR beasts dressed up like Thomas the Tank! Nice shots. Must make an effort to get there myself next year.

Thanks so much everyone.

The day had many plusses - apart from being very cold.

Anne and I have visited often. There is such much to see and take.

I have to say the E-5 is a joy to use and am just settling down with settings.

Very nice Barrie, those last two have very ethereal quality to them.*chr
