View Full Version : How feasible would it be.....?

..... for a camera manufacturer to make a digital version of the Hasselblad X-Pan or similar?

I know that these days it's easy to create a panoramic photo by stitching together images, but sometimes this just isn't good enough. For instance, taking a seascape of a lively ocean.

So I was idly wondering if it would be possible for a camera to be made by "joining" together two or more sensors to give a wide format. The lens issue shouldn't be a problem - there are/were many panoramic film cameras on the market and they managed well enough.

Would there be a demand for this sort of thing? I for one would certainly be interested.

I was thinking exactly the same last week, great minds think alike eh?

Another thought just crossed my mind (too much time on my hands!). How about mounting two identical cameras with identical lenses next to each other with a very slight overlap, taking a photo using a split/twin cable release, then stitching the two resulting shots?
