Even in bright daylight. I didn't think my FL-36 would be powerful enough but it proved me wrong. ISO200 and GN18-25 on 42mm zoom for most of the photos. Some examples on on-camera flash as a fill light with either strong sunlight or bright light through clouds:

Very bright sun from behind the subject. Gave me harsh shadows on the front before I started using the flash

Racoon-eyes are history even with a sky filled with diffusing skies

Good examples, Janet, you've mastered fill-flash.

As Regards the Racoon eyes, it wouldn't get rid of mine - too much alcohol and too little sleep!

Oooops! I misread this thread as being posted by Janet - hers was the one immediately above!

Apologies both to Janet and, of course, Radar - who really is the opening poster. See what I mean about too much alcohol and too little sleep! :o
